How Much Does a Custom Website Cost in 2026?
October 15, 2026 · 7 min read
If you have asked three agencies for a custom website quote, you have probably received three wildly different numbers. One says a few hundred dollars, another says several thousand, a third will not give a number until a long discovery process is done. That is confusing, but the gap usually has a logical explanation, and once you know what drives a website price you can compare quotes properly instead of guessing.
What actually drives the cost of a custom website
Four things move the price more than anything else: the number of pages, how much custom design and functionality you need, whether you need content or branding created as part of the job, and how much testing, speed work and search optimization is included. A five-page business website with a contact form is a very different project from a fifteen-page site with a blog, lead automation, and custom interactive features.
What realistic budgets look like
At Softiators our published website packages start at $349 for a mobile-responsive 5-page site with a contact form and basic on-page SEO, $799 for up to 10 pages with a blog section and lead capture automation, and $1,799 for 15 or more pages with custom interactive features, speed optimization and advanced on-page SEO structure. E-commerce stores, integrations and larger systems are scoped separately because the cost depends on catalog size and what needs to connect to what.
Why a very cheap quote can be expensive later
A low price is not automatically a bad one, but check what is missing. Common gaps are no mobile testing, no on-page SEO, no analytics setup, no handover so you cannot update the site yourself, and code you do not actually own. Fixing those afterwards usually costs more than including them at the start.
Fixed quote or hourly: which is safer for you
Hourly billing means the final cost is unknown until the end. A fixed written quote based on an agreed list of pages and features means you know the cost before work begins, and any change to the scope is discussed first. For most small and mid-sized businesses a fixed quote is the safer way to buy a website.
How to compare quotes fairly
Ask each provider for the same things in writing: how many pages, what is included in the design, whether the site is built from scratch or from a template, what SEO setup is included, who owns the code afterwards, what happens after launch, and how many revisions you get. Put the answers side by side and the price differences usually make sense.
The cost of not having a good website
A slow, dated or hard-to-use website quietly costs you enquiries every week, because visitors leave before they ever contact you. For most businesses the question is not whether a good website is expensive, but how much business the current one is losing. If you are not sure where you stand, our packages page shows every price openly, and you can request a free quote for your exact project.

The problem

What we built
A rebuilt storefront on Next.js with a redesigned product and checkout flow, on-page SEO fixes, and image/performance optimization for mobile shoppers.
The result
Page load times improved significantly, mobile bounce rate dropped, and the site began ranking for product-category keywords it had never appeared for before.
